This Scripture has been ROCKING my world lately and it has caused me to seriously re-think a lot of things. The main point I want to make in this post is this: The Christian faith is CAUGHT, not TAUGHT.
The Christian faith is like the flu... if you are around people who have it, you just might catch it! The only difference is that when you are around others who are truly committed to Christ, you really want what they have (but nobody wants the flu).
Jesus didn't show his disciples a Power-Point presentation on how to care for the poor or how to love sinners... He did it and they watched! Yes, he did influence them with His words, but He influenced them mainly with His actions. They wanted to be like Him and they wanted what He had... He showed us who God was with His actions. His WALK backed up His TALK! We should strive for this!
So here is my question to you if you are a Christian: If other people saw your life, would it make them want what you have? Would it make them want Jesus? Would it SHOW them Jesus?
Paul makes a very bold statement here in 1 Corinthians 11... he says that if they want to know what it means to know, love and walk with Christ, they should just watch how he lives his life. Dang... that is a man who is serious about his faith... are you?
My prayer: Lord, I pray that I would be an example of Christ to Bethany, my family, my friends and to students. I pray that my life would be about WALKING with You, not just TALKING about You. Father, I confess my pride, impatience and arrogance. Cleanse my heart, O God, and make me clean. I can do nothing apart from Your Spirit. I pray that my ACTIONS would speak louder than my WORDS. Amen.
